Day Thirty of Lent: God of Mercy and Compassion

Day Thirty of Lent: God of Mercy and Compassion

Hello brothers and sisters,
This period of lent is about God's mercy on us.In Today's 1st reading , we see that it’s the people’s abandonment issues that led to idolatry. Is it possible  our generation might be doing the same thing? It is scary to see how divided the Christian faith has become. It is even more scary that the world is drifting away from the very values that that should make us strong as Christians.

In America for example, it is not very acceptable to talk about God in public places like schools. When will people realize that the absence of God is the main reason why the society is morally bankrupt? In the 1st reading, despite God's anger against his people, Moses averts the wrath of God. In chapter 33 and beyond, God reveals the divine Name to Moses: “The LORD, the LORD, a God gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love and fidelity, continuing his love for a thousand generations, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin.” God is definitely who he say he is or we would all perish. We are blessed because we are children of the most high. May this lent remind us of the God we have and help us to change our ways. If we truly believe in the scriptures like the gospel says today, we will believe in Jesus and will follow his ways.Let each and everyone of us continue to reflect on the word of God and see how we can make our lives more pleasing to God.

God of mercy and compassion,we come before you today humbled and sad
in the face of our own repeated failings. We hold out my hands asking for mercy.May we be reminded that  you were lifted high on the cross and pierced to heal our wounds. Forgive us today just like you forgave the repentant thief on the cross.
Thank you for the love you pour out on us unconditionally despite our shortcoming. May this lent bring us closer to you and help us renew our faith In Jesus name.

The Readings:  Wisdom 2:1a, 12-22; Psalm 34; John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30

Song..  God of mercy and compassion.
May this song remind us of God's abundant mercy on us and increase our determination to serve him with all our heart.
